Public Bars and Stock Manager

Freemans Event Partners are the leading provider of event and stadium public catering in the UK. We operate at over 400 events each year, working in partnership with prestigious sporting and entertainment venues and have established excellent supplier relationships with market-leading partners across numerous platforms. Our aim is to be the best F&B provider in the event industry.

We are currently looking for a Public Bars and Stock Manager to join our team at Kingsholm Stadium. In this newly created position, the Public Bars and Stock Manager will be responsible for;

  • Supporting the Venue Operations Manager in planning and delivering a first-class, professional service for the client and consumer.
  • Leading, planning, and co-ordinating the operations for bar set-up and break down, managing all stock aspects across the site, identifying, and passing best practice to colleagues.
  • Taking the lead role in ensuring all public bars are managed to a high standard during match days and events.

The key duties and responsibilities will include;

Stock Management

  • Devise ways to optimise stock control procedures, using data from previous events and effectively forecasting using data supplied for up-and-coming events.
  • Complete accurate weekly stocktakes and place weekly orders to ensure stock levels are correct for match day’s events.
  • Ensure stock levels are correct in all bars and cellars in the lead up to match days and events.
  • Devise systems and procedures to ensure stock rotation and wastage is management to a high standard.
  • Evaluate supplies and products to achieve maximise the gross profit of our product range.
  • Manage a small team of venue assistants to deliver the stocking of all bar areas in line with health and safety regulations and standards.
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Excel.

Bar Management

  • Within budget, manage the event including, set-up, delivery, and breakdown, in line with Health and Safety (H&S) regulation, Bars objectives and client standards.
  • Lead your team in all aspects of setting up an event; setting up bars, sorting out the infrastructure and dressing the site e.g. setting out tables, fences, flags, smaller bar units etc.
  • Communicate with bar managers and ensure they manage their bars effectively, working within set processes completing all relevant support documentation and managers packs.
  • Lead the bars managers in all public areas, ensuring correct procedures are in place and the staff are well prepared for service.
  • With the support of the Venues Operations Manager, manage all aspects of the licensing laws (including Challenge 25, correct closure times of bars, live music).
  • Ensure that staff are professional, fit to do the job (alcohol and drugs) and in the correct uniform.
  • Ensure stock is correctly managed on match and events days.
  • Ensure all equipment is secure and accounted for before, during and after an event.
  • Communicate with your bar managers effectively, so they understand their duties and responsibilities and have the information and training required to carry out their roles.
  • Lead your team’s performance by setting the highest possible example; monitoring, encouraging, coaching, guiding and tackling any performance issues as they arise.
  • Direct the security team to prevent or deal with any security issues that arise during an event. (e.g. prevention of crime, disorder, public safety, public nuisance, protect of children from harm, forged identification documents or counterfeit money).
  • Manage post-event breakdown.
  • Operate within any budgets set by the Venue Operations Manager and the finance team and adhere to all processes.
  • Keep and enforce the Freemans Event Partners Behaviour and Skills framework.
  • Always drive Freemans Event Partner vehicles (or those hired) in a responsible fashion being responsible for all charges and fines in a timely fashion.


  • Keep the Venue Operations Manager updated with any complaints by the public or comments for improvement made by Client,
  • Record all expenditure using the Purchase Order (PO) system.
  • Give feedback to the head of staffing on event staffing numbers and highlight suggestions for up-and-coming events.
  • Provide the Venue Operations Manager with a post-event report to include problems encountered, solutions implemented and suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintenance and safe storage of bar furniture and equipment.
  • Take into consideration sustainable solutions and best practices to ensure we take responsibility for reducing our impact on the environment and support the companywide sustainability strategy.
  • Any other duties that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of event preparations or event delivery.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the following knowledge, experience and skills;


  • Full manual driving licence.
  • Previous experience of managing a high turnover bar.
  • Physically fit with high levels of stamina.
  • Experience of stock management and implementing stock management procedures.
  • Experience of managing stock using a POS system.
  • Good MS excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving, ability to use initiative but not to cut corners.
  • IT literate with a good understanding of MS Office.
  • Experience in managing large teams of casual/ part time staff
  • Able to work to tight deadlines


  • A passion for the events and food and drinks industry.
  • Personal Licence holder.
  • Previous experience of managing a team.
  • Qualified First Aider.
  • Level 3 Health and safety qualification.
  • Large venue or event management experience.
