Head of Staffing


Who We Are

Freemans Event Partners are the leading provider of event and stadium public catering in the UK. We operate at over 400 events each year, working in partnership with prestigious sporting and entertainment venues such as Silverstone Circuit and Twickenham Stadium and have established excellent supplier relationships with market-leading partners across numerous platforms

Reporting to the Head of Operations within our Bars Division you will ensure the effective delivery of all divisional staffing solutions efficiently and within budget, optimising event delivery in line with company standards, operational requirements and legal obligations.

Promote and develop policies and practices that deliver an engaged workforce and a culture centred on customer service, quality, fun and continuous improvement.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Liaise with Head of Operations and Finance Partner to develop good understanding and accurate forecast of divisional staffing needs relating to skillsets, numbers and cost.

· Weekly reporting to Divisional Director, Head of Operations and Finance Partner, updating of departmental spend and progress.

· Develop and manage recruitment initiatives, policies and processes.

· Manage staffing agency contracts, negotiating rates and ensuring compliancy.

· Monitor and manage the performance of all staffing agencies and suppliers, ensuring they confirm to our standards and legal requirements, and consistently deliver quality and quantity required.

· Attend all events to support and observe the staffing team, effect registration, identify training and development requirements, and ensure standards of uniform and employee welfare are being met.

· Oversee allocated budgets including casual labour, agency spend, uniform, recruitment and accommodation, highlighting overspends at an early stage and making recommendations for efficiencies, savings and cost effectiveness.

· Monitor wellbeing and sickness absence for all event staff; identifying trends.

· Monitor and authorise weekly payroll submissions, validating payments and deductions ensuring accuracy.

· Support the high standard and continuous development of all staff, both casual and permanent; identifying and coordinating areas for additional training; following up on outcomes.

Ensure we engage with and retain our event staff through effective onboarding processes, appropriate training, good standards of welfare and regular quality communication.

 

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Essential

· Considerable experience (minimum 3 years) in a fast-paced recruitment or staffing management role.

· Strong leadership skills

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and manage strong supplier relationships.

· Creative and pragmatic approach to change and problem solving.

· Assertive and diplomatic.

· Commercial acumen with experience of managing budgets and working to KPI’s.

· Good working knowledge of employment law relating to recruitment and employment contracts.

· Educated to a high standard with excellent level of numeracy and literacy.

· Strong administration skills with an eye for detail.

· Excellent planning, time management and organisational ability.

· Fully competent user of ICT including MS Office and databases.

· Willingness to work weekends & long hours to deliver the required service.

· Evidence of effective leading, coaching and mentoring team members.

· Ability to manage wider staffing team to deliver the needs of each event.

· Confident communicator; ability to present to key stakeholders.

Desirable

· Experience managing a large team/department.

· Broad range of understanding HR practices and procedures.
