Business Development Manager


Freemans Event Partners are the leading provider of event and stadium public F&B in the UK. We operate at over 4000 events a year, working in partnership with prestigious sporting and entertainment values such as Silverstone and Wembley, and enjoying excellent supplier relationships with market-leading brands

Reporting to the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Identifying new business opportunities, including new markets, new clients, new partnerships
  • Identifying and creating new customer opportunities, as well as offering targeted sales to existing customer groups
  • Creating strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities
  • Help define long term strategic goals

Working alongside the senior management team to contribute to overall business objectives.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working across  the food and beverages category in sales your duties will include  :

  • Winning new customers and growing accounts of existing customers
  • Work with the management team to identify and evaluate new markets and profitable business opportunities, using market insight with regards to products and knowledge of competitors
  • Initiate and complete proposals and presentations for new business opportunities
  • 80% new business-focused, proactive with identifying new business opportunities for the Logistics Division
  • 20% account management focused, developing on-going sales plans for existing clientele with a view of growing existing accounts and relationships
  • Work with management team to develop, implement and achieve strategic sales plan and targets for the channel
  • On-going management of the sales forecast for named accounts

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

Essential

  • Ideally have food or drinks sales experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a B2B Sales/Account Management position selling into OR working within event catering, foodservice or Wholesale
  • Passion for food and drinks
  • Must be able to demonstrate and evidence a proven track record of winning new business as well as developing inherited accounts within previous positions
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience using Sage 50 accounts
  • Driving licence

ABOUT YOU

This role is highly commercial and requires:

 

  • Event catering/foodservice/wholesale market knowledge and experience is *essential*
  • 5 years’ experience in Business/Sales Development
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • The ability to build great relationships whilst delivering mutual value for both the business and our customers
  • Ability to drive distribution and growth of the portfolio across the different customer channels
  • Confidence in talking about category, trends and brands
  • Excellent commercial acumen
  • Information networking, presentation skills, account management, Market Research skills
  • A good cross-functional communicator
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
