Retail Commercial Analyst

Freemans Event Partners currently have a new opportunity for a Retail Commercial Analyst to the join the team. We are looking for someone with proven experience of retail pricing, who can demonstrate their ability to create their own data warehouses and reports. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Retail Commercial Analyst will be responsible for;

  • Development, implementation, and maintenance of our retail pricing / margin strategy.
  • Have broad understanding and keep abreast of pricing trends and the market variables.
  • Work across the business to rollout pricing / margin strategies.
  • Providing insights. analysis and modelling for commercial projects across the business.

The key duties for this role will be; 

  • Writing and reporting on insightful analysis which adds value to both our internal and external customers.
  • Working with the Logistics team to develop new sources for commodity prices to ensure the business keeps up to date with all the latest price trends.
  • Working with the Logistics team on the development of purchase and sales price variance reports through the monitoring of actual costs / prices v. a calculated standard.
  • Working with the market / brand partnership team to develop coverage and value add of pricing insight to increase value for our clients.
  • Working with the Catering and Concessions team to provide insights and guidance on venue and product pricing strategies.
  • Helping to develop dashboards and other tools to create more value from data for both internal and external customers.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the following knowledge, experience and skills; 

  • 3-5 years’ experience of retail pricing ideally within a retail environment.
  • Proven ability to create own data warehouses and reports from scratch.
  • Experience of planning and writing in depth analysis of food and retail trends in terms of market trends around food / drink and the outlook on current / future inflation on pricing and margins.
  • Experience of constructing pricing strategies compiled from market intelligence and bench marking to relevant pricing sources
  • Ability to develop source systems of data from scratch through the use of SAGE / BI Cubes e.g., Qliksense.
  • Expert level of excel skills.
  • Experience in using data cubes – FEP currently use Triple Jump and Qliksense.
  • Self-sufficient PC skills to include – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.
  • Good written skills – ability to demonstrate effective report and letter writing skills.
  • Experience of presenting ideas and insights to both internal and external clients, whether through formal presentations or informal discussions.
  • Be adaptable and flexible with their approach.
  • Numerate – able to demonstrate analytical skills.
  • Be able to proactively plan your time and priorities.
  • Demonstrate a strong commercial awareness.
