IT System Administrator


Freemans Event Partners are the leading provider of event and stadium public catering in the UK. We operate at over 400 events each year, working in partnership with prestigious sporting and entertainment venues such as Silverstone Circuit and Twickenham Stadium and have established excellent supplier relationships with market-leading partners across numerous platforms.

We are currently looking to recruit an ICT System Administrator to join our Head Office in Gloucester. The role will be responsible for the support and delivery of the internal ICT system currently deployed across 2 fixed location sites. The successful candidate will maintain and upgrade a range of technologies currently utilised across the company. This will include maintaining services and responding to support requests, as well as the deployment of new systems and services and related projects as and when required.

The main responsibilities and duties will include;

  • Execute the day-to-day ICT maintenance and administration of systems to ensure normal operation is maintained and to minimise downtime wherever possible.
  • Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and testing the Companies infrastructure, to include regular backups, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Assess the need and action if required the installation and maintenance of server software systems, including service pack upgrades and version upgrades.
  • Maintenance of Firewall and Gateway security policies ensuring the security of the systems are always maintained.
  • Effectively engage with each Business function to ascertain their requirements, developing and optimising existing IT solutions, and continuously seek improvements to support.
  • Provide professional, efficient, and accurate responses to anyone wishing to report a fault, problem, issue or seeking information or advice, face-to-face or over the phone / remotely.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of emerging technology trends and developments in areas of interest and relevance to the business, contributing ideas for the next generation of solutions.
  • Plan, organise, control, and evaluate IT and electronic data operations.
  • Conduct, participate in and contribute to any ICT projects but also provide technical advice on non-ICT related projects.
  • Follow procedures and policies of the business and assist with the enhancement of ICT procedures and policies to meet current legislative or company requirements.
  • Arranging the purchase or repurpose of hardware and supporting accessories, including user access levels and data validation.
  • Support the development and management of the IT budget.
  • Support the business continuity plan.
  • Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organisational policy.
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in reasonable time.
  • Preserve assets, information security and control structures.
  • Take into consideration sustainable solutions and best practices to ensure we take responsibility for reducing our impact on the environment and support the companywide sustainability strategy.

We are looking for someone with the following knowledge, skills and experience;

Essential

  • Networking, VLAN and Watchguard Firewall Security.
  • Deployment and Administrative experience of Microsoft Server, Microsoft Active Directory, and SQL Server and multi-function authorisation.
  • Working knowledge and experience of Security AV/Encryption.
  • RPAS /Always on VPN knowledge and experience.
  • Back up optimisation – both local and cloud based.
  • HyperV / Virtualisation of server infrastructure inc. VMWare experience.
  • Experience of installing, supporting and upgrades to Sage Line 50, Sage 200 and Qlik Sense.
  • Experience of Office365 – OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online, Azure AD along with general knowledge of Cloud technologies.
  • Experience of Microsoft Windows and Office are essential.
  • Telephone systems, preferably Avaya.
  • Problem solving and a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
  • An ability to provide clear and concise instructions, leading by example at every point.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload appropriately and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective business and colleague relationships.
  • Has extensive knowledge of and a passion for Information and Communication Technologies and keeps abreast of emerging technologies and analyses possible benefits to the company.
  • Working knowledge and experience of information security systems and processes, including compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation.

Desirable

  • MCSA – Windows Server 2016.
  • Microsoft 365 Certified.
  • A+.
  • Ability to influence and present new ideas for improvements in technology.
  • Ability to work in and react to a changing environment and respond pragmatically to problems as they arise.
  • ITIL knowledge.
